Children's day in Mexico: communities of Futbol Mas in Guanajuato attend the stadium thanks to the invitation of Club León

Nearly 40 people from the communities of El Cedro and Calderones, which are part of the Barrios Program of Futbol Mas in Guanajuato thanks to the support of Fresnillo plc, witnessed the triumph 4-0 Lion Women's over Santos Laguna.

The children and a group of their companions of the communities of Cedro and Calderones had a very special day. So it happens it was very few that previous had the opportunity of attending a football match in a professional stadium. The instance was possible thanks to the support of the Club León, who in addition to performing the invitation, managed the shuttle bus from Guanajuato, León.

Although the match was at 9 p.m., the communities were activated around 5 p.m. when the bus arrived at the communities to take the boys, girls, tutors and coordinators of the program that Futbol Mas has been carrying out for a year together with Fresnillo plc, with the objective of generating protected spaces for children, using sports and games to promote their wellbeing and the bond with their environment.

The match ended with a 4-0 victory in favor of the local team, but the most happy were the children who had been able to support Las Fieras. The game also featured Fernanda Pinilla, who plays for Léon. The defensive player from Chile is also an ambassador of Futbol Mas, since several years. At the end of the game, Pinilla came up to the stands and pulled out a Green Card in appreciation of the boys and girls who hade been supportive.

Alhelí Casas, Fresnillo plc's community relations officer, accompanied the delegation from the communities to the stadium and said, "The game was very emotional. This allows us to continue strengthening ties". She also highlighted the mining industry's continued support for such programs as Futbol Mas, which are carried out in mining areas and seek to promote physical activity and values such as teamwork, respect and joy.

“One of the best days. Thanks to Futbol Mas that brought us to watch the game and see a stadium for the first time,” said one of the children when leaving the stadium. “Thank you for this opportunity to come and be here for a football match. It was a very, very nice experience”, said one of the parents who accompanied the delegation.

This instance, which was created to celebrate the children's Day in Mexico, gave a meaningful experience to the children of El Cedro and Calderones, at the same time that it highlighted the positive impact that the corporate support can have on the development of children and their communities. In addition, the idea was that this was the first of many different activities between Club León and Futbol Mas. In order to bring the club to the boys and girls in their territory.
