The women's game still struggles to be seen: Fútbol Más drives the change from childhood 

Although the competitions feminine doubled its media visibility in 2023, barely reached 30% of coverage as opposed to the prominence almost all of the men's game. This gap not only affects the professional players: also limits what thousands of girls dream of being when you step on a football field. Because what you don't see, you can't imagine. 

On this International Day for Women's Football, Fútbol Más puts the focus on the importance of create references and safe spaces so that the girls can grow, play and dream in equality. Since 18 years ago, the organization that works in communities around the world, using football as a tool for personal development, emotional well-being and social transformation. 

“The football motivates me to be stronger and be more confident”says a girl of 11 years in one of the programs of Fútbol Más. Like her, thousands of girls are in the football and sports a place to express yourself, to challenge stereotypes and to build confidence in themselves.  

Play football and sport on a regular basis not only strengthens the body, it also has the ability to transform the mind. In girls and adolescents, sports boosts self-esteem, encourages autonomy and reduces stress. Play football gives them a space to freely express themselves, connect with others, to release energy and to experience joy. In addition, they learn to work in a team, to overcome barriers and to lead. Every workout is an opportunity to grow, to feel capable, and build a positive image of themselves. Therefore, the equitable access to sport is not a luxury, it is a necessity for your well-being and integral development.  

The referents of the female are an essential part of girls and adolescents continue to engage in sport. Are the players which keeps alive the motivation, perseverance and confidence and childhood.  

That's why, from Fútbol Más reaffirm our commitment to: 

  • Promote equal opportunities for girls in all our programs. 
  • Create spaces and communities safe and proyectoras where they can develop free from discrimination and inequality. 
  • Visible and accompany women soccer players as role models who inspire new generations. 

This International Day for Women's Football, is an opportunity to recognize how much remains to be done and also to make visible what is already changing. Promote the participation of girls in the sport and ensure that they have concerning visible is not only a question of equity, is to encourage their development, their health and their future.
