“We play in a Community" in Cusco: Fútbol Más and the magic of the Green Card arrive in the Sacred Valley
With much enthusiasm, Fútbol Más Perú he returned a year to the region of Cusco, as part of the project “we Play in the Community”, which seeks to promote the sustainability of safe public spaces through Sport for Development.
This 2025, the magic of the Green Card arrived in the heart of the Sacred Valley, where we met again with the community of Ccotohuincho (Urubamba), and for the first time we get to Calca, thus starting a new chapter in our journey through the country. In two days marked by joy, the color, the fun, and, above all, the meeting community, we celebrate our milestones home, thus marking the beginning of the project in the region on a date as significant as what it is June, the month in which the Cusco celebrates its identity, culture and traditions.
Ccotohuincho, an expected return
In Ccotohuincho, experienced an afternoon of sport, play and participation, where children and girls of the community shared different sociosports activities, reinforcing values such as respect and teamwork. Also, the activity counted with the presence of community partners, key, such as the articulator of territorial Safe Neighborhood, Mariela Cusihuallpa, and the president of the Association Pro-Housing Sacred Valley Ccotohuincho, Freddy Salas, who expressed their expectations for the beginning of the project and highlighted the work that has been making Fútbol Más, recognizing the positive impact that left the project “Playing it Safe” in the community between 2022 and 2024.
We are in expectation of how the project is going to help us integrate our community of children and adolescents in a sports area that promotes the peaceful coexistence. [...] Through projects such as “we Play in the Community”, we hope that our children and young people to have a healthier alternative and healthy to develop in a safe environment.

A new beginning in Calca
Calca also lived a great start for everything high, where several families gathered to enjoy a sports party. The day was full of joy, smiles and fun times shared between children, adolescents, parents, and community partners. In the activity participated by members of the National Police of Peru and the articulator of Safe Neighborhood in Calca, Walter Angles, who expressed his enthusiasm for the start of the project and the arrival of Fútbol Más in this city. Also were present members of the Salesian Congregation. The event was held in an atmosphere full of energy and commitment, surrounded by a stunning natural landscape, where, by means of the sport and the game, it strengthened the bonds between families, promoting coexistence, participation and well-being of the community.
Today we are living close by, there are boys and girls with enthusiasm to be a part of Fútbol Más. [...] We are here with the Fútbol Más, to make our boys and girls can use these spaces, and this time in a positive way.

The game community since it started in Cusco
So we started this new journey in the Sacred Valley in Cusco, where now the balloon is not just a wheel, but also now fly to the height of the mountains and of the dreams of the children and adolescents of Ccotohuincho and Decal. This way it would not be possible without the participation of the community. Families, local organizations, and allies territorial give meaning to each step. With them, we build safe spaces and full of joy. Because this game is not played alone: it is built on community.
About “we Play in the Community”
The project “we Play in the Community” is a project implemented in 10 districts of Lima, Cusco and Arequipa which promotes sporting spaces insurance through the active participation and community empowerment. In partnership with the multi-Sectoral Strategy Safe Neighborhood of the Ministry of Interior, and with the support of Old Dart Foundation, strengthens social cohesion and the well-being of children and adolescents, ensuring the sustainability of the initiatives through the transfer of skills to local actors.
