Learn in a friendly environment: how sport benefits to the school life
In the framework of the commemoration of the National Day of the School life, Fútbol Más Chile compiled a series of benefits that sport contributes to the school coexistence within the establishments where the Schools program.
Children and adolescents in Chile spend around twelve years in the college, to spend more than 38 hours of educational work per week. If we look from this perspective, a large part of the growth of the children is given in educational institutions. In them, not only learn about mathematics, language arts, or history, but also gives them values and tools for life outside the school context. So, today, take special relevance to the school lifearea refers to the social interactions among the whole educational community.
As described above, is that over ten years ago that the Ministry of Education of Chile (Mineduc) drives during the month of April the celebrations related to the National day of the School life, event that marks the 29 April.


For Fútbol Más this date is of the utmost importance, since one of the main objectives of the Schools program is to promote a healthy school life. In this type of interventions, the guardians of the organisation seeking to promote forms respectful living, strengthen the significant links of the children, girls and adolescents, and to create safe spaces for learning.
“This implies that in an activity we can strengthen the team work, the resolution assertive conflict, or the recognition of emotions, while you learn the content more technical unit”, said Katherine Carrasco, coordinator of innovation and methodology of Fútbol Más in Chile.
Through sport and the game, the organization seeks to transfer benefits of these activities to the school life. Some of them are:
- Team work: it teaches us to work in group, to take on roles, collaborate, and assess the various technical skills and socioemotional of the NNA.
- Sense of belonging: the physical activity and the game will strengthen the sense of belonging, which allows you to transmit core values to live together. As, for example, respect, fair play, and the search for agreements.
- Opportunities: the sport offers opportunities to develop life skills, such as creative thinking, confidence and perseverance. In addition, invites you to incorporate healthy habits in life and in the environment.
- Mood: it has positive effects on mood, concentration and well-being, which is associated with a better disposition to learning.
It was thus, that for 2024, the NGO was able to deliver these tools to 27 schools in eight regions the country, with a total of 2.679 children and adolescents benefit.
But this not only can be demonstrated in data, but also in the responses of the beneficiaries.
Before the phrase “I have felt afraid that other students are made fun of my within the school”, a 40% of respondents said they “strongly disagree” prior to starting the classes of Physical Education with Fútbol Más. While that, once initiated interventions, this percentage rose to 76%.
A similar situation repeated with the phrase “I felt afraid that other students I stick within the school” since a 39% said they “strongly disagree” with the statement before the start of the program. Whereas, subsequent to the start of classes taught by the team of the foundation, the percentage increased to 76%.
In this way, both Physical Education classes and the workshops conducted in conjunction with the educational establishments and Fútbol Más delivered a number of benefits for the development of a school life optimal, and the personal growth of children and adolescents, thus achieving change your reality through the sport.
