Fútbol Más is chosen by Laureus as one of the six best organizations in the world for its educational work with children through sport 

This Tuesday, march 3, Laureus —organización global que promueve la excelencia deportiva y el poder del deporte como herramienta de transformación social— anunció la lista corta de seis ONG que postulan a ser reconocidas como la mejor del mundo por su trabajo con la niñez. Las finalistas participarán el próximo 20 de abril en Madrid en la ceremonia de los Laureus World Sports Awards

Among the organizations selected figure Fútbol Más, a foundation born in Chile, 18 years ago, and that throughout his career he has worked in 11 countries and 3 continents. In that period, nearly 200,000 children have participated in initiatives that use sport to strengthen life skills, promote community cohesion and improve the school life through its programs. 

Considered the “Oscar sport” the Laureus World Sports Awards are awarded annually from the year 2000. The ceremony calls elite athletes, legends of the sport and social leaders, and distinguishes both the sports performance as the social impact of sport. The winners are chosen by the Laureus World Sports Academy, built by prominent international figures. Among the winners in previous editions are Simone Days, Novak Djokovic, Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal and Lionel Messi

The announcement of the list of three finalist organizations was performed at an event in Madrid that brought together companies, social organizations, and relating to the world of sports, and was disseminated through the official sites of Laureus. 

Guillermo Rolando, global executive director of Fútbol Más, welcomed the nomination: “Share the possibility of being chosen as the best organization of the year 2025 is the greatest privilege of our 18 years of history. It is a recognition to hundreds of partners and collaborators, and to the alliances that have trusted in our dream of using sport to transform the reality of children and young people”. 

The impact is also reflected off the pitch 

One of the elements that became the foundation in this list is its system of impact assessment, indicators in mental health, well-being, physical activity, and community cohesion. For 2024, in a sample of 1.580 boys and girls of Chile, Peru, Paraguay and Mexico, the percentage level of optimal well being increased from 26% to 38% after the completion of the program, which represents an increase of 12 percentage points, measured through the international instrument WHO-5. 

In Chile, between 300 participants tested, the sense of belonging increased from 56% at the start of the program to 73% at the end of, showing a growth of 17 percentage points, and confirming that the intervention through the sport not only strengthens the individual development, but also community ties.
