How a Fútbol Más class works in Haití
The program is carried out by local monitors in which children, young people, teachers and representatives strengthen the learning and the operation of the program.
Fútbol Más Haiti has adapted the methodology to generate meaningful learning with boys and girls, where the participants of the workshops are responsible for their own learning; The methodology of Fútbol Más values the positive and adapts to the needs of each context.
As in all corners of Fútbol Más, the session began with the circle of trust (wonn konfyans) where a space is created where children identify with our methodology and a safe space is formed so that they can express their ideas calmly while the capacities and the valuation of each one are strengthened.
In Haiti, students are expected to be sensitive and able to think about other people, that is why we have a space that we call Moment of Connection (moman koneksyon). It serves to take advantage of the approach to the spiritual that exists in the Haitian culture. At the beginning of the class, children identify situations that happen in the context where they live and how they can be a part of improving the problems that affect them at school, in the neighborhood and at home.
We want our groups to be part of the same dynamic and to identify with the people around them, that is why we give a space for everyone to greet each other while singing and dancing to give a warm space in the class, at this moment we call it salytasyon. We strengthen the friendship among the participants, so the greeting should always end in a hug to the partner, the Haitians have a spirit full of joy and taste for music, so at the time of the greeting we use a drum to continue infecting that positive energy.
The next moment of the class is the Board (tablò) where we sing and dance to throw the dice that tells us in which box we will fall and start the dynamic that has to do with the psychosocial factor we are working on.
The dynamic (dinamik) is a game or dance that is adapted every week, where the knowledge of the corresponding psychosocial factor is deepened, through dance and singing the recognition of emotions, confidence, self-esteem and the different factors is strengthened contemplated in the resilience mesh.
Fútbol Más is an opportunity to learn new things while we play football, each time we play we strengthen the friendship among the participants using the Green Card as a transformation tool, where positive actions are valued on and off the court of each participant so that they can identify the values and attitudes that will allow them to function on a day-to-day basis.
The class ends when the green child is chosen (Timoun Vèt), the child or girl who has had the best attitude within the class is chosen, that their participation was important for the development of the class and the deepening of knowledge of their classmates and companions, then the celebration of the embrace (Fèt akolad) ends where the class closes positively after performing a retro feeding of what has been learned.
Haiti is full of smiles and happiness and Fundación Fútbol Más uses the Green Card to promote positive attitudes that will transform the reality of girls, boys and young people in each of the schools.
