Rocío and Bruno: From the Football Pitches of Chile to the Camp Nou
Training in the facilities of FC Barcelona and visiting the Parque Güell and the Sagrada Familia de Gaudí are only a handful of activities that Rocio and Bruno, two participants from the Foundation Fútbol Más, will be able to enjoy thanks to the MILO contest, which looks to reward the effort and sacrifice of Chilean boys and girls who play sports.
Rocío Mercado (12), has spent three years being part of the category of the “Piolinas” in the neighborhood Rosario Norte of the Region O’Higgins. She came to the program thanks to her cousins who convinced her to try it out knowing how much she enjoyed playing football.
Bruno Chamorro has participated in Fútbol Más at the field of Hulquén, in Paine, since he was in grade school. Suddenly, a group of representatives from the foundation invited Bruno and his mother to participate in the classes. Since Bruno is a fanatic of football, he decided to participate because they taught the values like cheerfulness, respect, and teamwork.
For Rocío, this prize is a dream come true. It is the first time that she will leave her country and will have the opportunity to meet other kids, where she will be able to represent her neighborhood with their jersey.
“This trip will be a unforgettable experience. I dedicate this prize to my coach Rodolfo, to my family, and to all who have supported me in each class, game, and when they let me be captain,” says Rocío.
For Bruno, this experience will change his life: “all of my teammates were very happy and congratulated me telling me that I was very lucky and wished that they could come with me (laughs). I want to tell all of the boys and girls of my neighborhood to keep succeeding in Fútbol Más because they learn many lessons that will help them grow as people. I have learned to be persistent, respectful, and tolerant. Everyone can have the same opportunity as me, to win a prize,” he explains.
The grand experience in Barcelona
This trip is programed for November 3rd, and during four days boys and girls from all over the world will jointogether to participate in sports, football, group activities, and laughter.
MILO has been working with the Foundation Fútbol Más since 2018, and awarded this prize in order to emphasize the values that are learned from soccer, and also to rescue the good actions of the boys and girls, who in Fútbol Más are rewarded with the “Green Card,” a tool that looks to project positive actions.
¡¡Congratulations to the winners!!
