Mirtha Pinto: “Rosario Norte is effort, union and companionship”
I joined Fundación Fútbol Más thanks to my daughter Karen. His son Martín had been playing for a while in the ‘peques’ category with his friends and cousins, so he invited me to be part of this. My first activity: a league, where for the first time I downloaded all my energy, I shouted a lot, I felt that I removed so much stress.
It all started in 2015.
My name is Mirta Pinto, I am almost 54 years old because I will soon be celebrating my birthday. I currently live with my mother, my daughters and my grandson Martin, my baby. During my life I had to work in construction, in public relations where I had to receive tourists who visit the El Teniente Mine, in the fruit, among others, so my facets are very different. But it was when I went to Fútbol Más where I expulsed what I had hidden, my personality. Now I am not afraid to stand whereever I am and expose what I think is right or wrong about an issue.
Today I am the network manager of the Neighborhood Coordination Team of Rosario Norte. I decided to be part of this team because when I was young and I did not finish my studies, I promised that my children and grandchildren would not go through the same thing and in this program I found a way to do something for the children, even more so if they are from my community .
Almost all my family participates in Fútbol Más, most of them women. My daughter Karen, my nieces Katherine and Elisa. Also my niece Eileen who is starting to become a neighborhood leader. Each of us has an important role in the neighborhood, we belong to the ECB, we are in the Community Meetings, in every socio-sporting encounter, everywhere.
If in the past they had asked me, do you feel an empowered woman?, my answer would have been a resounding no. Today, I do feel one, because in this program they give you a space as a woman so that each one can express and develop in what one feels comfortable and happy. Also, this is not a routine, you talk, you laugh and you try to get away from the normal day.
I love that in Fútbol Más women play with the ball, because it deletes the idea that is a sport for men, they feel liberated. On the other hand, I would like us to stop being locked in our homes, offices, on four walls, because there are children who need a lot of us.
For me it is and will be a wonderful experience, to be in Fútbol Más. The only fact that they greet you with affection and embrace you, makes you feel rewarded. I would like to do so many things for them that I sometimes get frustrated because the importance of this work in our neighborhood is not considered.
