Fútbol Más Leader´s in Haiti will participate in Russia 2018 in Festival Football for Hope
Four young leaders of the Bas Canaan community will travel to Moscow to be part of the Fifa Football for Hope Festival 2018, a sporting event that seeks to unite teenagers from different corners of the world under the concept of diversity and cultural integration. Prince Port. Mikelida, from the Divina Providencia school together with Jean Denis, Cynthia and Michelet from the community school Du Bass Canaán, are the four young people who will mark the history of Haiti, which will be part of the 2018 edition of the Football for Hope Festival, an event that will take place almost parallel to the Russia 2018 Football World Cup and that seeks to promote the integration of young people from different corners of the planet, through sports.
In the event, which will be held between June 25 and July 3, Haiti will be represented by a group consisting of two boys and two girls, under the format Football3. The teams will be intercultural and they will mix young people from different corners of the world.
“This moment is an important milestone for the Haitian sports culture, as it is the first time that children from vulnerable contexts will go to Russia as representatives of Haiti,” says Vicente Valdelamar, executive director of Fundación Fútbol Más Haití.
The festival will celebrate the power of football to unite people and contribute to the sustainable development of the people, strengthening education, health and the promotion of healthy habits, peace, social integration and leadership.
Fútbol Más is a socio-sports program that has been in Puerto Principe for five years and seeks, through football, to develop life skills such as respect, teamwork, respect and joy. In addition to this, it seeks to generate protected spaces for children by promoting the development of resilience and using its methodological tool: the green card.
Fundación Fútbol Más is a nonprofit organization, which was born in Chile and is located in eight countries around the world, which uses sports as a tool for the development of diverse communities, and which is working in Haiti together with Fundación Desarrollo Educativo el ‘Haiti Play’ program thanks to the Fondo Chile.
