Fútbol Más inaugurates the exposition #NOSOLOESFUTBOL with Lucas Barrios
The Foundation Fútbol Más has completed a photographic representation of the process of intervention of two years thanks to the support of Fondo Chile. The name of the exposition, #NoSóloEsFútbol (#It’sNotOnlyFootball), shows how boys and girls of vulnerable communities of Asunción gain strength through games and sports. Lucas Barrios and Nimia Torres, Ambassador of Paraguay in Chile, show us this process.
On Wednesday October 10th, in the Cable Al Arte Lounge in the Colunga Foundation, forward Lucas Barrios from the football team Colo-Colo, inaugurated the exposition #NoSoloEsFútbol (#It’sNotOnlyFootball). This is a photographic exposition of the project Fútbol Más Paraguay in the communities and neighborhoods of Asunción.
The event required the presence of Barrios, who was one of the most important players on the Paraguay National Team, of Nimia Oviedo, the Ambassador of Paraguay in Chile, and of the sub secretary of the Sport, Kael Becerra and of Culture, Juan Carlos Silva, as well as the representatives of the organizations participating in this project: Fondo Chile, an initiative of the Minister of External Relations, la Agencia Chilena de Cooperación para el Desarrollo (AGCID), and Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD).
The photographic display contains images taken by the Gauraní photographers Cesia Ashmore and Mathias Melgarejo. This photographs show Paraguayan children in their schools and neighborhoods at the banks of the Paraguay River, an area that as a result of constant flooding, has been labeled as a vulnerable place to live. Fútbol Más, through the it’s work, has been able to empower boys, girls, and parents through the development in their capacity to be resilient through community cohesion in the face of their unfavorable natural environment.
Also, the exposition, which counted with the help of the Arte Urbano collective, visualizes how a relevant tool such as football, can address topics like the integration of diversity, the equality of sexes, respect for the environment, and the construction of sustainable communities, which succeeds in the Objectives of Sustainable Development of the UN.
