Fútbol Más Ecuador was established in 2013, when an alliance was formed with the Antonio Valencia Foundation, the Ecuador Football Club, Unicef and Pony Malta. This alliance was made as a first step to implement the programs in the coastal city of Guayaquil.
In the first stage of the process, a research and revision of the various characteristics were carried out to identify the sectors and neighborhoods with the highest levels of vulnerability and development potential. This gave way to the election of the first intervention area, the industrial zone Via Daule, where the first neighborhood meetings were held.
Afterward, arrangements were made to establish the first social-sport classes in the neighborhoods Maria Auxiliadora, 5 de Diciembre, San Francisco and Paquisha. As the last step, the community Flor de Bastión was added in 2016.
After the earthquake in Ecuador in 2016, Fútbol Más implemented an emergency program in the province of Manabí. There the foundation is currently working with displaced persons who live in shelters by using the methodology of the program.
